Many distributors provide value added light assembly and manufacturing to their clients. In these cases, it is not a full MRP application, but more of a job shop. It provides for scheduling of equipment and personnel. It does job costing so the pricing can be accurately done. There is a “kitting” requirement which replaces a standard “Bill of Materials” and there is the ability to charge each project with appropriate labor and parts.
